Q. What expenses can I claim on my self assessment tax return?
A. There are a number of tax deductible items you can claim if incurred as a business expense. A few examples are: travel/mileage, business phone calls and accommodation. Please contact us for a full, itemised list.
Q. How does the service work?
A. It's very simple, you can either send your original documents to us by registered post, or alternatively simply scan your original documents and email the file. On receipt of your file, we process your data and your accounting records are updated. You will be emailed or faxed with hard copies of reports such as financial statements, aged debtor and creditor reports and bank reconciliations on a pre-agreed frequency.
Q. I have been paid throughout the year through a PAYE scheme and have no other income, but HMR&C have asked me to complete a personal tax return. Do I have to complete it?
A. Yes, if HMR&C asks you to complete a tax return you must always do so.
Q. How frequently do you prepare my bookkeeping?
A. Weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually – it’s entirely up to you.
Q. You use Sage accounting software to prepare my bookkeeping – may I have a back up copy of this?
A. Yes, we always use the most up-to-date version of Sage so you would have to purchase this, but you are then welcome to a back up copy.
Q. Will my data be secure?
A. Yes, client confidentiality is very important to us and our systems are backed up on a daily basis.
